So you went to your favorite T.V show this morning clicked on the letter, then the T.V show, then the episode, and then nothing… Oops. Long story short an update that is mandatory (1.0.9) is out so go to XBMC then System / Add-ons / Available updates / Video Add-ons and choose IceFilms Update!
You should be up and running!
Thanks to the community for working around the clock to get this fix out, I know it was a challenge and it isn’t said enough but we appreciate your efforts!
July 6th, 2011 update @ 11:10am: I wasn’t using IceFilms but noticed a huge jump in the number of hits to this blog. I checked it out and saw that Icefilms is currently down with a script error. Stay tuned, researching a reason and hopefully a solution! Current version is 1.0.10
Someone has hacked IceFilms. Sad to see that a user community that is giving out its stuff for free would be a target of this. But the people are working on it. Rest assured, IceFilms will be back up!
July 6th, 2011 update @ 7:31pm: IceFilms is back up, but there are a lot of sources and shows missing. But at least its possible to watch content again!
A good website besides mine to check to see if IceFilms is down or not is http://www.downornot.com/icefilms.info That way, you aren’t going crazy looking for the answer!
July 9th, 2011 update @ 12:41pm: IceFilms was down on the 7th, I was about to update my blog and IceFilms was back up! Then it went down again, and then up again, and right now its down again. There should be 1.0.12 update coming. Thanks again to the dev’s for working hard on the issue. Seems like some ‘script kiddies’ are to blame. Also downornot is reporting it incorrectly. Apparently automated technology isn’t as good as human input just yet…
July 10th, 2011 update @ 12:18am: I am watching Season 4 episode 1 of the new season of TorchWood. Great series! Oh yeah and IceFilms is back up! (working version 1.0.11)
July 12th, 2011 update @7:49am: I figure since I watch enough IceFilms through APTV2 and downornot proved unreliable, and enough people are checking this blog to find out if it is up or not, I will do my best to provide that information. So, as of right now, I’m watching Falling Skies and IceFilms on APTV2 is up!
July 14th, 2011 update @ 2:11pm: Still up! =)
July 17th, 2011 update @ 4:00pm: It’s up, watched Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Part 1!
July 18th, 2011 update @ 3:00pm: Its still up, just watched Hangover 1.
July 21st, 2011 update @ 3:00pm: For nostalgia watched some Quantum Leap, damn that was a show ahead of its time. They don’t make them like that any more, unless its from HBO…
July 25th, 2011 update @ 10:41pm: Watching Falling Skies… This series started very slow and is somehow getting slower… Beginning to lose my interest and that’s really hard to do…
July 26th, 2011 update @ 7:45pm: One word, Entourage!
July 28th, 2011 update @12:30pm: Watching Torchwood!
July 30th, 2011 update @12:15pm: Felt like watching Battle: Los Angeles, good action flick if your GF or wife is out. heheh…
August 1st, 2011 update @ 6:00pm: Torchwood Season 4 x 4! Episode 3 was a bit lack luster, but knowing these writers and creators, it was worth the wait. We get to know a bit more of the mysterious ‘triangle’ group… Oh yeah and Apple T.V and IceFilms is working great!
August 3rd, 2011 update @ 2:00pm: My brother was watching Torchwood Season 4 x 3 and 4. He had some catching up to do. I also watched the latest episode of Falling Skies and Green Lantern: Twilight Knight
August 5th, 2011 update @ 10:48pm: That’s what I get for not watching IceFilms today, it goes down, will keep everyone updated as this progresses. Just one of those days I guess.
August 6th, 2011 update @ 10:52am: 12 hours since IceFilms went down, apparently this was a planned server upgrade/move since ‘Big Brother’ was trying to shut Mega Upload down or something to that effect. There was a message up somewhere on the site before it went down, but I suspect based on the few relevant comments made, that this may be a prolonged outage. I will keep on top of this and keep everyone informed. If you have any questions, leave a comment below and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible!
(And some more info)
Seems like GoDaddy dropped IceFilms as a host due to multiple complaints as well. So while they look for a host in some foreign country where they can’t get persecuted, I will start looking into other options to watch. I’ll have a post up soon! Hopefully IceFilms will be back and stronger then ever!!! Yes I’m using many exclamation marks today!
To watch some older shows from 11 days ago, here is something to hold you over while on your PC http://188.121.50.149
Some code to replace here, http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?t=87703&page=230 Post #2295
August 7th, 2011 update @ 11:50am: Nothing new to report, IceFilms is still down and quite frankly if it comes up in under a week, I would treat that as a miracle and get some religious people involved in order to confirm it as such. You can try Navi-X (http://website.navi-x.org/) Install it just like the repo for IceFilms but after installing it on the Apple T.V 2, go to programs in order to use it. I’ve installed it and confirmed it works, but haven’t used it to the point where I know what I am doing yet. As always, we have to be patient, and hopefully things will return back to normal!
(And yet some more info)
IceFilms on the Apple T.V is up, but it looks like they went to an backup version and not all the files and T.V shows are up to date. But at least you have something to hold you over until it does! Thanks to the developer team! I am sure they are working hard at it and we should all recognize the hard work they put into it!
August 10th, 2011 update @ 5:36pm: Just finished watching the new Tochwood, Falling Skies, some R.J Berger and a whole bunch of other shows. IceFilms seems to be up and running and updating the new shows, hopefully it keeps up like this. (knock on wood)
August 11th, 2011 update @ 10:52am: IceFilms is down. They are still in the transition of moving over. I guess I didn’t knock on that wood hard enough…(lol) Here’s a link you can use to connect to them for now. http://vds.icefilms.info/ There is a work around to get your ATV2 up and running, but I would wait for the official version to be fixed. If you think you can manage it, go to http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?t=87703&page=239 Good luck! (I expect IceFilms to be back up before the day ends, so that’s why I’m not stressing this temporary fix.
Just tried it out on my iPad 2 and it worked. So I guess its back up! ENJOY!
August 13th, 2011 update @11:27am: They are moving and testing servers, so there will be some intermittent downtime. There is nothing wrong, I’m sure everything will be up and running before the weekend’s end!
August 16th, 2011 update @ 8:11pm: This is for all you wondering if IceFilms is up or down… Note the lyrics. And pretend ‘Elevator’ is really IceFilms…
Hey this works too,
August 22nd, 2011 update @ 9:53am: I think there may be an issue with megauload as the icefilms site is up. For now I can get up to sources and then nothing shows up. Will research the issue and report back!
August 23rd, 2011 update @11:11am: Still down and still no end in sight. Seems to be an issue with moving over to a new host and even the IceFilms forums are down. What I have managed to gather from the XBMC community is that to wait it out. There are some fixes available, but they are not for newbies and may cause you even greater problems when IceFilms is fixed using the source file.
August 25th, 2011 update @11:11am: Looks like this might run longer than though, here’s a fix to watch content but it doesn’t have the new stuff.
August 28th, 2011 update @2:57pm: I can’t believe it, still no fix for this, however, they are still using this patch to watch Movies and shows that have not been updated for the last 10-12 days. I will keep everyone updated, hopefully it will be sooner rather then later.
August 29th, 2011 update @10:00pm: Sources to the left of them, sources to the right of them! My, oh my, IceFilms is finally up, time to rejoice and catch up on all my shows!
August 31st, 2011 update @4:38am: Was able to watch one full episode of Entourage earlier today, or was it yesterday afternoon, and by the time I got to the second it was having issues buffering. So I won’t say its up flawlessly but it wasn’t down either. Wouldn’t be surprised if its down again soon. Will keep you all posted.
September 1st, 2011 update @9:51pm: Enjoyed catching up on all my missed T.V shows, I missed you IceFilms!
September 5th, 2011 update @12:52am: I noticed a jump in people checking Icefilms and did note that for awhile that the website was acting weird, however, XBMC and IceFilms was working fine on the iPad 2 when I tested it. Looks like there was a minor glitch but as far as I can tell, all is well…
September 8th, 2011 update @10:33am: IceFilms was being attacked with DOS (Denial of Service) attacks. It is up and running but may be subject to intermittent loss of service if it continues. This was last night and this morning, but I think all is well.
September 12th, 2011 update @ 7:48am: I was watching IceFilms all day yesterday and the first time I tried, it wouldn’t buffer correctly. Fortunately, I had some errands to run and when I came back it was fully operational. Watched the latest episodes of TorchWood and Doctor Who without any issues.
September 12th, 2011 update @ 7:30pm: Ah the difference 12 hours makes. IceFilms is temporarily down. I am sure it will be back up ASAP!
September 16th, 2011 update @ 8:29am: Been watching it here and there, running with very few issues!
September 24th, 2011 update @ 7:00pm: Have watched all three seasons of Blue Mountain State. Everything seems to be fine still. Think there was a hick up for a bit there, but everything is up and running for now!
October 7th, 2011 update @ 11:11pm: I spoke too soon, my T.V shows disappeared on me, the instant I said they were fine…. There is a fix for this, will post up how in comments when I have the full how to. Or I may just wait it out first…
Here is the link to the described fix, use at your own perils. (or just re install from scratch afterwards) http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?t=87703&page=334
October 10th, 2011 update @ 2:50pm: Just go to System/Add-Ons/Get Add-Ons and then highlight anarchintosh addons and hold the menu button, about 2 seconds later a few options will appear, click on the ‘Force refresh’ and wait for the update to complete. (Bottom right corner will flash addon updated or something like that) Fixed! Enjoy!
October 19th, 2011 update @ 9:23am: I was up all night catching up on Supernatural and a few other shows. (till about midnight) Which was 9 hours ago and it was working well, I see a jump in stats for this blog, so I will check on current status and report back. (Nope its still working)
October 23rd, 2011 update @ 11:03pm: Noticed another jump in stats and people searching, just jumped into my Apple T.V 2 and loaded Terra Nova up with no problems. Would be nice if someone left a comment on what error they are getting.
October 24th, 2011 update @ 11:05pm: Was watching a show when I hit the menu button like a noob. Went to go back in and it gave me a script error. =( Went to IceFilms website and it is currently down….
October 30th, 2011 update @ 4:25pm: Watched some old movies for nostalgia’s sake yesterday, everything was up and running as far as I know! And 1 episode of Supernatural of course!
November 1st, 2011 update @ 10:08am: I’ve been having intermittent issues with IceFilms working and then stopping, I’ve even discussed it in the comments below for the last couple of days, so its a bit hit and miss right now. Expect some issues if you are trying to watch IceFilms, but I guess many of you already knew that!
November 14th, 2011 update @ 6:07pm: All seems well, been watching random shows and enjoying it! =)
November 18th, 2011 update @ 1:46pm: Not sure if there was an outage last night, I just tried using IceFilms on my iPad 2 and all was good. I will try my Apple T.V 2 and see if the issue exists there, but I think it may have been a temporary issue…
November 22nd, 2011 update @ 1:55am: I’m doing one of those all night binges where I try to catch up on a few seasons of some good T.V shows! Watched a bit of this and that and all seems to be working well!
November 29th, 2011 update @ 3:09pm: There seems to be reports of Mega Upload having issues, in fact trying to go to http://www.megaupload.com/ confirms this. Some will have no access to their add-ons and some will, its hit and miss. Just wait it out… Sure things will be back to normal, but just in case keep your fingers crossed!
November 30th, 2011 update @ 5:04pm: Looks like we are back up and running! Put out the fires and stop pillaging the land, go back to your hibernation and hopefully we’ll see you all in the spring!
December 5th, 2011 update @ 11:56pm: Ice Films Script failed! Ow.. I wanted to watch something, will see how it goes in the morning, might as well go to bed now…. Sad…
December 6th, 2011 update @ 2:51pm: Ice Films is still down, another issue with Mega Upload! No worries, will just have to wait it out!
December 6th, 2011 update @ 9:20pm: Yeah so after my IceFilms updated to 1.0.18 everything was up and running, I let my IF update automatically and when it did all was well. But you can force update for yourself as outlined in the comments near the very end, thanks to Sam for the info on how to do it!
December 28th, 2011 update @ 4:59pm: It’s working better then it was in the summer time, but since I have about 10 people that I know personally that own and use the device, I have a sample that tells me there are things that occur on one person’s IF that does not occur for anyone else. I have been running quite effortlessly but there are a few people over the last few days that have not. Hopefully all is resolved, but if not, just give it a reboot (unplug the power cord) or wait a few hours and it should be working. Will see if there is anything else to report!
January 3rd, 2012 update @ 12:06am: IceFilms got a update and fixed the issues that were out. All previous issues should be fixed. Happy New Year!
January 13th, 2012 update @ 3:03pm: I’ve noticed that intermittently IceFilms goes down. Sometimes a quick reboot or power cycle (removing power from the unit) will fix this issue. Its not widespread, but due to the number of hits per day on this article I am able to determine if an issue is widespread or not. Right now if your IceFilms is not working, just follow the steps above or wait an hour, should resolve the issue. Otherwise everything is up and running fine. (Another issue is for some that after an hour into a program IceFilms crashes, I am looking into a solution for this still and none is known in the community just yet)
January 19th, 2012 update @ 4:07pm: Getting some script errors? On the IceFilms website there is a notice that some Megaupload links may be down. So you may have some intermittent issues today.
Update! MegaUpload was taken down and executives and owners charged! http://sliced-apple.com/2012/01/19/holy-hell-megaupload-shut-down/
February 2nd, 2012 update @ 4:17pm: Icefilms is now up with RapidShare and 2Shared links, but some random testing provided some inconsistencies. Its getting better, but its not bad either. You must be on version 1.0.24 for this to be working.
